July is a favorite month for many as it traditionally involves outdoor activities, family gatherings, long summer days, memorable sunsets and so much more. It is also the month of our nationally celebrated Independence Day. A day in history where we memorialized the signing of our Declaration of Independence. On July 4th, 1776, representatives from thirteen colonies signed a document pronouncing themselves free and independent from the British Empire. Most of us are familiar with this event in history, but did you know that that the last sentence of this document, above its signatures reads “And for the support of this declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine providence, we mutually pledge to each other, our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor?”
Independence is at the core of our mission and is what we teach every student in providing them the tools they need to live their lifetimes filled with happiness, well-being and self-esteem no matter their challenges. Dependence is a very real part of life as well. By example, we depend on our educators, our first-responders, our information systems, our neighbors, and so much more, for the pursuit of our own quality of life and success.
In leading our team of administrators, caretakers, teachers, medical professionals, and social workers who work together and depend on one another to bring your child a first-rate residential and educational experience, I assure you that we are proud to have your confidence and support in this important journey. Your dependence on us for the services we provide are at the core of our responsibilities and is what motivates our efforts each day. We thank you for your partnership and confidence.
I join my staff and dedicated team in wishing everyone a safe and happy July 4th holiday and mid-summer season.
